How It Works
Becoming an Independent Travel Expert is a straightforward process designed to get you up and running quickly, with full support from our team every step of the way.
1. Initial
conversation
You’ll start with a call with our recruitment team to learn more about ITE and discuss your experience, goals, and suitability.
2. Follow-up &
application
After your call, you’ll have a virtual follow-up with the ITE team. We’ll then send your application documents and trust deeds for completion (including a required wet signature).
3. Submit
your application
Once we receive your completed documents, CV, and business plan, your application is reviewed by our Membership council.
4. Approval &
onboarding
If successful, you’ll be welcomed into the ITE network and invited to a virtual induction to get you fully set up.
5. Start
trading
Following induction, you can begin trading within 48 hours, with access to training and support through our New to Travel programme (where applicable).
Important
requirements
To join Independent Travel Experts, you must be UK-based with a valid UK address and UK bank account. Some members may travel frequently or spend time abroad, but maintaining these UK requirements is essential for membership.

To become a homeworking travel agent with Independent Travel Experts, you complete an application process including a call with our recruitment team, submission of documents, and approval by our Membership council. Once accepted, you’ll receive full onboarding and training before starting your business.

No experience is required. We welcome both experienced travel professionals and those completely new to the industry, as long as you have a passion for travel and transferable skills.
How much does it cost to join Independent Travel Experts?
There are no application or set-up fees. You simply pay a £59 monthly fee, which includes access to systems, support, training, and insurance benefits.
Do I need to be based in the UK to join?
Yes. You must have a UK address and a UK bank account to join Independent Travel Experts, although some members may travel or spend time abroad.
How long does it take to get started?
The onboarding process can be completed in as little as one week, although we typically advise allowing around 14 days from application to trading.
What support will I receive as a homeworking travel agent?
You’ll receive full business support including a Customer Care team for administration, a Homeworker Support Executive, regular business development calls, and access to networking and training events.
Is there financial protection for customers?
Yes. All customer bookings are protected through the Travel Trust Association, offering 100% financial protection for peace of mind.
Do you provide sales leads?
We do not provide direct sales leads. However, your profile will be listed on the ITE website so customers can contact you directly, and our marketing campaigns are designed to drive enquiries to you.
